Yves Got got his art education at the Visual Art School in New York, where he took anatomy courses by Burne Hogarth. Got published his first abstract work in Hara-Kiri magazine in 1968, followed by a comic in Le Miroir du Fantastique. Along with Philippe Druillet, Jean Giraud and Robert Gigi, he cooperated on Henri Filippini's fanzine Underground Comics no. 0. From 1970, he was present in Pilote, doing various short stories. From 1974 to 1976, he drew for Le Canard Enchaîné. He became an artist for L'Écho des Savanes in 1976.
