Jean-Pierre Hugot attended the School of Applied Arts from 1964 to 1970, and began his career working as a letterer for Éditions Square. He published his first comics in Hara-Kiri from 1971, and subsequently appeared in the pages of Charlie Mensuel, Harlie-Hebdo and B.D. For these magazines, he created a wide range of series, including'Les Deux Mecs', about two intolerable drop-outs, 'La Chanson de Dagobert', 'Nénette, 'Norbert Beaucostar', 'Le Professeur Armstrong', 'Le Pfelelep Enfant Zoovage', and 'Dr Oelenschläger'.
