Yves Got got his art education at the Visual Art School in New York, where he took anatomy courses by Burne Hogarth. Got published his first abstract work in Hara-Kiri magazine in 1968, followed by a comic in Le Miroir du Fantastique. Along with Philippe Druillet, Jean Giraud and Robert Gigi, he cooperated on Henri Filippini's fanzine Underground Comics no. 0. From 1970, he was present in Pilote, doing various short stories. From 1974 to 1976, he drew for Le Canard Enchaîné. He became an artist for L'Écho des Savanes in 1976. For this magazine, he created his first series, 'Le Baron Noir', which was scripted by René Pétillon. The comic was later continued in Le Matin de Paris. The scenario of 'Le Baron Noir' is a mixture of the political and the comical. While continuing his comics career at the magazine Psikopat, Yves Got became an art teacher at the School of Applied Arts in Paris. He published albums with Flammarion, Futuropolis and L'Association, while he also worked in children's books for Albin Michel and Édition du Seuil. Text (c) Lambiek
