Parisian artist Eric Lambert desired a career in the field of advertising. He studied at the Ecole Professionnelle de Dessin Industriel for four years and then worked as an infographics artist for the NCD COM communication agency. He was co-founder of another agency (TOUNSE) in 1992, but his ambitions eventually led him to comics. He replied to an advertisement by Zone Créative to participated in the collective BD Clip No. 2. The project was never realized, but it did result in him meeting scriptwriter Jean-Luc Istin. It was in 1999 when Lambert and Istin embarked on their first joint comics effort, the heroic fantasy series 'Merlin', that was published in ten book by Nucléa and Soleil until 2010.
