Description

The Phantom has visited Walker's Table and is heading to the east coast and Diana. At a diner he reads in a newspaper that the heiress Carolin Benson is accused of tax fraud by the FBI and decides to help her. He flies in his own airplane to Las Vegas.
Carolin Benson is sitting alone in her office on the top floor of the Benson Hotel, wishing that the Phantom would be there to help her (and obviously in love with him). Suddenly the Phantom does in fact show up. Benson explain that she has been accused of tax fraud; the Chicago gangster Gianini has transferred millions of dollars to her private accounts and then sent the account statement to the FBI. The only one who has access to her account is Gus Cole, her father's best friend who has been asked to witness at the court the following day.
The Phantom is given a suite at the hotel, who is also hosting an Elvis Presley look-alike competition.
The next day the Phantom and Benson are waiting at the court house while Cole is in the witness stand. Also in the waiting room is a suspicious figure who reads a Chicago newspaper. In the court room Cole explains that Benson's private bank account increased with 28 million dollars, a figure that match the estimated loss from the hotels and the casino. After his statement, Cole recieves instructions from the suspicious figure to meet at the hotel fountain at midnight.
The suspicous figure returns to the hotel and change into a 1970s style Presley costume. The Phantom do the same and discreetly watch Cole in an argument with one of the girls from the ballet: he has been blackmailed into lying to the court. Later that night the Phantom, still in Elvis costume, stops the suspicious figure from gunning down Cole on the street outside the entrance to the hotel. Suddenly Carolin Benson shows up, accuse Cole of being a traitor and kill him with a pistol.
The killer is in fact the ballet dancer who has dressed up like Carolin Benson. The Phantom races up the stairs to Carolin Benso
