Lorsque j'ai vu cette couverture en vente, ce fut d'abord un coup de coeur visuel ! Nous sommes tout te suite emmené au dessus de Métropolis, en compagnie d'un Superman rayonnant, déterminé, fort physiquement et intellectuellement (cf l'histoire) !
En creusant un peu plus, je me suis aperçu que cette couverture était également le dernier travail de Richard Friend pour DC, ce qu'il considère comme la fin de sa première partie de carrière dans le comics !
Voici ses explications en anglais :
"Ryan sends me high resolution scans of his pencils (and I print them out in light blue) and I ink the art TRADITIONALLY on DC bristol. This is 100% hand done by me and is inked with crow quills, Raphael Kolinsky Sable brushes, tech pens and archival india ink. all work is the published original art and line art for the comic!!
Some people may or may not know but I am not inking anymore. (I am penciling and inking my own work) but this is basically the last "pro inking job" I am doing that is collaborative and I consider this my last inking piece (for that part of my career) so a kind of cool footnote on this one...because I do consider this my LAST piece of part 1 of my career. I have 4 Eisner nominations throughout my inking career (one with Travis Charest and several for my work on Madame Xanadu with Amy Reeder and Matt Wagner) and was awarded the Inkpot award for lifetime achievements at SDCC a few years back..so I feel like I made a decent dent with my work thus. To be clear I am NOT leaving comics. I am currently penciling and inking myself at Heavy Metal magazine and I am also writing, and penciling and inking my own original book called Blasterkid...so I am NOT going anywhere."
C'est donc toutes ces raisons qui m'ont poussé à acquérir cette sublime couverture, peut être à un prix un peu élevé, mais quand on aime on ne compte pas n'est-ce pas ? :)
