About Icar

Franck Picard is a French comic artist, who has worked under pseudonyms like Francard and Icar. Picard, who has suffered from hearing loss since birth, attended several schools for the deaf, but has managed to study Fine Arts in Rouen and Applied Arts in Paris, where he got degrees in drawing (1987) and interior architecture (1989). He worked in Khrist Mirror's comics atelier Forum des Halles in 1988-89 and subsequently frequented the comics atelier of École Duperré. He assumed the pseudonym Francard and made his professional debut as a comic artist with the series 'Jeepster'. This cyberpunk series was written by Patrick Giordano and published by Dargaud between 1992 and 1996. Francard then worked with Froideval on the science fiction series 'Fatum' between 1996 and 2001, and then on 'Anamorphose' in 2005. He switched to the pseudonym Icar while starting a new science fiction series with Léo, called 'Terres Lointaines' in 2009, which was followed by 'Ultime Frontière' in 2014.
