Description
Annie Rose has been hiding something in the fields behind her house.
Something big. Something that shouldn’t exist.
A creature she’s named Scratch. Nobody knows he’s out there, and Annie plans to keep it that way ... at least until strange things start happening all across the globe.
It turns out Scratch might not be the only one of his kind.
So what is Scratch? Simply put: he’s a kaiju.
Kaiju is a Japanese word meaning “strange beast,” usually used to describe massive monsters like Godzilla or the creatures from Pacific Rim. In SCRATCH, kaiju (a.k.a. DEVAs) are more myth than fact, until they start appearing.
Governments scramble for answers, and the U.S. covertly funds an agency called ARTEMIS, tasked with identifying and containing these creatures. But even ARTEMIS doesn’t fully understand where these monsters come from or what’s waking them up
Ray Fujiwara is a comics artist and illustrator with a vivid manga style, known for his work in the independent comics scene. He draws and inks and has contributed art to projects for publishers including Marvel, DC, and Dynamite. He’s also created short comic pieces for collaborative projects such as this SCRATCH together with Derek L. Chase
