However not well-known, Robert Bressy's oeuvre is large, mainly for his work for the daily press. After studying fine arts in Marseille, Bressy turned to animation. From 1949, he was active as a comics artist for the daily press. He started out with 'Le Capitaine Fracasse' and 'Les Pardaillan' for the Paris-Graphic agency. While still working for this agency, he started a longtime cooperation with Opera Mundi in 1952. There, he produced numerous panels, such as 'Mique', 'Docteur Claudette', 'Fu-Manchu', 'L'Appel de la Forêt' and 'Noëlle aux Quatre Vents'. From 1959, Bressy was also active for the English market with some comics for Independant Associated Agency. From 1961, he made several comics adaptations of Disney movies for Le Journal de Mickey ('Les Robinsons des Mers du Sud', 'Le Professeur Volant' and 'Mary Poppins'). In the 1970s he made comic adaptations of the oeuvre of Joseph Henri Rosny-Aîné, which he mostly signed with Yves Sayol. Robert Bressy retired in the late 1970s. However, during the 1980s and 1990s, Bressy has worked for Éditions Chancerel ('Histoire de la Coupe du Monde'), done illustration work for the Bibliothèque Verte and made publicity and commission comics for Éditions Lambert-Laurent Text (c) Lambiek
