Original page by Don Lawrence, story: "Swords of the Sea-Wolves".
Initially published in the British magazine Lion.
On 1st October 1966 Lion began to reprint Karl's early strips as Swords of the Sea Wolves, with Karl renamed Rolf; this was done because publishers IPC believed comics had roughly a four year turnaround of readers. Rolf last appeared on 7th October 1967, though he did star in one brand new adventure in the 1968 Lion annual.
Karl the Viking has been published and republished in many countries, also under other names (such as “Erik the Viking”) by other publishers.
Like other Lion series, it was sold to numerous countries, like Netherlands,France, Spain...
It was one of Don Lawrence's first commissions, which led to the offer to begin the series that would bring him the most fame: "The Empire of Trigan," later followed by "Storm."
Large page: 55x40 cm, separated into two parts with traces of glue that once held them together, and also glue residue on the top, suggesting something was glued on top for reprints.
The Spanish, French, and Dutch comics are not included in the sale; I've uploaded photos for reference.
