This page is from The Blood of the Virgin interlude that originally appeared in Kramers Ergot #10, was then published on it's own as Crickets Color Special #1 in an oversized format, and will be in the upcoming Blood of the Virgin book being published by Pantheon in May of 2023.

The page begins where the previous left off with the two main characters Joe and Bert having oranges together in a field after fleeing from the cops and then Harkham shows us in the third panel after two close ups, how far they are apart.

This is followed by a spectacular panel of a period film set where they are filming the assassination of President Lincoln, in which Joe is playing John Wilkes Booth. Finally in the last half of the page Joe overhears that he has been double crossed by Bert all while having to remember the line "Sic semper tyrannis" which he will have to deliver after he performs a stunt.

It's really all the little details that make this page so special. The era accurate movie lights and camera, the crew setting up, a PA or someone running across the set with papers, even the extras waiting and smoking on set.

Pencil, ink and white out on bristol board.
