Another dream come true for me…probably my favorite Carl Barks original oil painting “Menace out of the Myths” (CB-OIL 50 - 1973). Also known as Barks Code #11-73, it was originally inspired by the Carl Barks story "The Golden Fleecing" which appeared in Walt Disney's Uncle Scrooge #12 in 1955. The image has appeared in several Barks-related, books, fanzines and professional reference guides (at least 35 times in 11 countries), and it was used in 1994 for Another Rainbow's eighth mini-litho print. In that same year it was also part of a museum exhibition series in Denmark/Germany…In 1997 it appeared again in the Carl Barks Oil Painting Calendar...

The painting was commissioned by the late Malcolm Willits, the famous collector who “discovered” both Carl Barks and Floyd Gottfredson for the comic fans/community, and is one of the largest oil paintings (61cm x 46cm, oil on masonite board) that Barks did between 1971-76. If you would like to read more about it’s fascinating history, please check out this wonderful site: https://www.cbarks.dk/thelarkiepainting.htm

Carl Barks est un auteur de bande dessinée américain.
