About Dave Cooper

David Charles Cooper was born in Nova Scotia, and lives in Ottawa, Canada. He published several graphic novels with Fantagraphics, starting with 'Suckle', which was nominated for the Harvey Award in 1997. He then began his on-going series 'Weasel', which won the Harvey Award for Best New Series of 1999. In 2000, another Cooper work was published, 'Crumple, the Status of Knuckle', after it was serialized in Zero Zero. Cooper not only works as a cartoonist - he is also a commercial illustrator and a designer, creator and producer in the field of animation. In 2001, 'Dan and Larry in Don't Do That!' was published by Fantagraphics. Dave Cooper gradually became more known as a fine art oil painter, and some of his work was collected in the books 'Underbelly' and 'Overbite'. Cooper published his debut children's book 'Bagel's Lucky Hat' under the pseudonym Hector Mumbly in 2007. Cooper has worked with fellow indie cartoonist Johnny Ryan on comic stories aimed at a younger audience for Nickelodeon Magazine since 2004. One of their features served as the inspiration for the Nickelodeon animated series 'Pig Goat Banana Cricket', of which Cooper and Ryan serve as executive producers. Text (c) Lambiek
