After studying plastic arts and decorative arts, Nadine Brass started out in the illustration field. She worked for several months alongside Claude Lapointe, before she turned to comics. With scenarist Régine Pascale, she created the juvenile western 'Petit-Renard' in Astrapi in 1983. Five years later, they started 'Modou la Tzigane' at Casterman publishers. At the same time, Brass worked for magazines like Mikado and Toboggan and she illustrated several books in Casterman's "Mystères" collection.
