Loïc Malnati was born in Audincourt and began his career as an archeological illustrator. He teamed up with scriptwriter Anne Ploy in 1991, and together they created the heroic fantasy series 'Anahire' (Delcourt, 1996-2000), 'Fides' (Les Humanoïdes Associés, 2000-01) and the first three books of the SF saga 'L'Ancêtre programmé' (Les Humanoïdes Associés, 1999-2001). Malnati became an allround author with the SF diptych 'La Mémoire du Bamboo' (Soleil, 2003).
