Frédéric Bihel was born in the Upper Normandy city of Evreux. He made his debut as a comic artist in the magazine Hello Bédé with stories like 'La Quête de la Fille aux Cheveux d'Or' (1990) and 'Le Novice' (1992), both in cooperation with scriptwriter Xavier Josset. Bihel was then a regular artist for the children's publications of Bayard Presse, including Youpi, Point de Repère, Prions and Eglise Junior before Didier Convard and Éditions Glénat hired him to take over the artwork of the series 'Les Héritiers du Soleil' in 1994. He drew the series from scripts by Convard and later Thomas Mosdi and then wrote and drew the final installment of this comic about ancient Egypt himself in 2002.
