Didier Desmit initially focused on a career in science or commerce. However, after being a photographer for a while, he became an assistant to Christian Denayer on the comic series 'Alain Chevallier' and 'Yalek' in 1975. From 1977 to 1983 he was the colorist and background artist of Tibet's comics 'Ric Hochet' and 'Chick Bill'. Desmit's own style is very close to this artist's. By 1990 Desmit decided to start making comics on his own. His first album was 'Les Galapiats de la Rue Haute', based on a novel by Mik Fonal and from a scenario by André-Paul Duchâteau. In 1994 he took over the artwork of the 'Mr Wens' series from Xavier Musquera. In addition, he continued to work as a colorist for Tibet until 2003. In 2004, he assisted on the backgrounds and coloring of the 16th book in the Jacques Martin's series 'Lefranc', drawn by Francis Carin.
