Commentaire

In this dark story, the main character is selling his life and in the end his arms and legs are sawn off to be turned into a chair.

Taro Higuchi has mainly written and drawn one-shots / graphic novels, for Osamu Tezuka's COM, Top Punch, Roman Junior [Shueisha], but also erotic works, caricatures & cartoons.

He portrayed the social conditions of the late 1960s and early 1970s with a dark Horror-Manga undertone.

He had a unique drawing style that was influenced by, and can even be linked to, Akira 'Aquirax' Uno, but also to the American satirical comic magazine 'MAD'.

Between June 1968 and December 1971 he published, amongst other things, 14 stories in COM before completely disappearing from the scene and slowly growing into an underground Cult artist!

After his death, his original drawings and pages came onto the market, giving him a long-deserved recognition

Osamu Tezuka founded COM, a monthly manga magazine, in 1967. The idea was to create a publication dedicated to free speech in which all forms of artistic freedom (including sexual images) could be published
