Convention de Birmingham, UK; 1979....Ma première dédicace payée.
"Oui, aux USA, les dédicaces sont payantes..." dit-il. "Mais combien ?" . -"Combien peux tu donner ?"...Ma réponse fut claire ..."le moins possible " n'étant pas envisageable...je proposais "1 livre sterling" (l'équivalent de 10 Francs à l'époque).
Ainsi Steve (il fut à partir de cette date mon "correspondant" amical durant plusieurs années) m'initiait à cette commercialisation du dessin...d'une généreuse manière. J'estimais que le dessin valait bien plus que la somme symbolique que j'étais en capacité de lui offrir.

About Steve Leialoha

Steve Leialoha began his career working for the independent comic book company Star*Reach between 1975 and 1979. He created among others 'Newton the Rabbit Wonder' in Quack!. He has inked and occasionally pencilled for Marvel from 1976 to 1988, working on titles like 'Spider-Man', 'Howard the Duck', 'Indiana Jones', 'Armageddon' and 'Spider-Woman'. In the early 1990s, he was present at DC with artwork for 'Batman', 'Black Hood' and 'Shadow', and at Harris with contributions to Vampirella. He has also been involved with the epic 'Sandman', written by Neil Gaiman, for which he drew a story in volume 'World's End'. Text (c) Lambiek
