A stunning rappresentation of Valkyrie/Valchiria, former member of the Defenders and character frequently seen in the Thor stories. In the Norse mythology the Valchyries were the female divinities at the Odino service,those who conducted the fallen wariors into the Valallha (a sort of eternal paradise for the warlords). This illustration was pencilled and inked originally by Mike Deodato Jr and watercolored by Dave Gutierrez and It has often used by Marvel for: posters, promotional scope, as cover for "Secret Avengers #3 limited edition(2010), where it has been digitally recolored by Rain Beredo, and in a black and white version (ink only) was presented in the book: "The Marvel art of Mike Deodato vol.1.

About Mike Deodato Jr.
Mike Deodato sometimes credited as Mike Deodato Jr., is the professional pseudonym of Brazilian comic book artist Deodato Taumaturgo Borges Filho.
One of Deodato's first works was a 1993 photo-realistic comic book adaptation of the television series Beauty and the Beast published by Innovation Publishing. Deodato became famous in the North American comic book industry for his work with writer William Messner-Loebs on Wonder Woman. After his Wonder Woman project he had a short stint as the penciller of The Mighty Thor, where he worked with writer Warren Ellis, and later drew Glory for Rob Liefeld's Extreme Studios at Image Comics and Maximum Press.
