The actual artist of this cover is unknown to me and he/she will probably never be found (unless the artist comes forward after seeing it here) ...
The information that we do have is the following;
This painting was intended to be used for a publication of the Belgian Navy. Maybe in occasion of an (joint) operation with or in Russia? Intensive research makes me believe it remained unused.
Maybe someone higher up found it inappropriate to be used without permission?
It was found in the late 1990's at an empty-house sale of a former printer. This cover falls under the category of a pirate edition and even though the artist remains unknown, there's no doubt that it's a beautiful piece of Art !
The colors are very vibrant making it a real eyecatcher :-)
