About Vernon Van Atta Greene

Vernon Van Atta Greene's first work in cartooning was for the Portland Telegram doing sports cartoons. In 1940, Greene broke into the pulp and comic book field, illustrating 'Shadow', 'Masked Lady' and 'Perry Mason'. He also spent six years ghosting 'Polly and Her Pals' for Cliff Sterrett. Upon the death of George McManus in 1954, Greene was engaged by King Features to pick up 'Bringing Up Father'. Vernon Greene continued Jiggs and Maggie until his death in 1965. Text (c) Lambiek
