The Quest for Kalevala is Don Rosa´ s take on Finland´ s 19th century national epic poem Kalevala. A huge hit in Finland for sure, and arguably one of Rosa´ s best efforts. All the original pages once resided in a Finnish collection and were given Finnish lettering.
This particular page depicts a story within a story - a graphic presentation of Kalevala for beginners, as given to Scrooge and Donald. Featuring the wizard hero Väinämöinen, his kantele, the sort-of evil Northern witch Louhi and the magical device Sampo - all you need to enjoy this great story!

Keno Don Hugo Rosa, known simply as Don Rosa is an American comic book author and illustrator known for his stories about Scrooge McDuck, Donald Duck and other Disney characters. Many of his stories are built on characters and locations created by Carl Barks, including the story that brought him to fame as a modern Disney artist – the Harvey Award-nominated comic, The Son of the Sun.
