Terry and the Pirates Partial Hand-colored Sunday 4/14/46 by Milton Caniff

Il s’agit d’une pièce très unique. Je ne sais toujours pas à quoi il servait dans son état actuel. C'était un dimanche Terry et Pirates de 1946 et vous pouvez voir la version publiée dans les images supplémentaires. 6 panneaux en ont été extraits et réorganisés et colorés puis signés. Il s’agit d’art 100% original. Le coloriste serait Shel Dorf, l'assistante de Caniff (et fondatrice de Comicon). Peu importe qui a coloré ou pourquoi cela a été assemblé ainsi, c'est une séquence artistique incroyable avec Terry et Dragon Lady s'embrassant !! Juste wow. Je l'ai raté sur un site d'enchères il y a environ dix ans et il est allé à un ami. Depuis, je convoite cette pièce. Un de ces regrets tenaces dans le hobby qui vous hantent. 10 ans plus tard et beaucoup d’argent supplémentaire et c’est là qu’il appartient. Mon espace mural est limité mais je pense que celui-ci doit trouver sa place sur mes murs dans un avenir proche. Très heureux de l'avoir dans ma collection. Peut-être que j'ai fini de collectionner Caniff et que je peux laisser quelques miettes pour d'autres :) On verra !!

This is a very unique piece. I am still unsure what it was used for in its current state. It was a Terry and Pirates Sunday from 1946 and you can see the published version in the extra images. 6 panels were taken from this and reorganized and colored and then signed. This is 100% original art. The colorist is postulated to be Shel Dorf, Caniff's assistant (and Comicon founder). Regardless of who colored or why this was put together the way it was, it is an amazing sequence of art with Terry and Dragon Lady kissing!! Just WOW. I missed this on an auction site about a decade ago and it went to a friend. I have been coveting this piece ever since. One of those nagging regrets in the hobby that haunt you. 10 years later and a lot of extra cash and this is where it belongs. My wall space is limited but I feel this one needs to find its way onto my walls in the near future. Very happy to have this in my collection. Perhaps I am done collecting Caniff and can leave some crumbs for others:) We will see!!
