This is one of the most elaborate sketch Luis Royo has ever made, the details and the lightfall are astounding and show the top level craftsmanship that Royo possesses. It was made in preparation for the painting of the same name “Sweat’s Enclosure”, both the finished painting and this sketch were published in 1994 in Royo’s book “Malefic”. 


This image in raw pencils was created on Bristol board with an image area of 8,6” x 9,9”.


Sweat’s Enclosure:
An immortal scene: The warrior’s resting place. Some darkness drops show us a harsh past. An expression, such as the salt of sweat, and the tiredness shown on the hand which had previously taken up the sword.
