Commentaire

Hiroshi Saito started his carreer, in 1960, by joining Otogi Production, led by manga artist Ryuichi Yokoyama.

In 1963, when Astro Boy began airing, he joined Mushi Production.

In 1966, together with Shingo Araki, he founded 'Jacquard' drawing studio and made his directorial debut in the second episode of " Star of the Giants "

Jacquard went bankrupt in 1972 and he then joined Zuiyo Eiga (later Nippon Animation)

He was in charge of the storyboards for Heidi, Girl of the Alps

Gradually he evolved into screenwriting, storyboarding and eventually directing well known series such as Perrine Monogatari, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Alfred J.Kwak, The Fun Moomin Family, Maya Honeybee, Calimero, Alpine Girl Heidi etc

Throughout his career in Anime, he never lost touch with Manga, such as this 'Supernatural Attack Man' published in Bessatsu Shonen King (1972)
