About Rudy Spiessert

Rudy Spiessert was born in Nice and studied Visual Communication between 1994 and 1997. He began his career as a free-lancer, making illustrations and designs for packaging, etc. He was a graphic artist with a web agency in 1999 but eventually turned to creating comics in collaboration with Hervé Bourhis. Their first effort was the series 'Le Stéréo Club' in the Dargaud collection Poisson Pilote between 2004 and 2006. They then moved over to Dupuis to create their viking comic 'Ingmar' for the Expresso collection until 2010. In that same year, they also made 'Hélas', their contribution to the publisher's Aire Libre collection. Spiessert also worked with scriptwriters Denis Lapière and Pierre-Paul Renders to create 'Comme tout le monde' for that same collection in 2006-2007. He subsequently released his solo comic 'Les Villes d'un Jour' with Éditions Quadrants in 2008. Spiessert and Bourhis continued their joint work with the Star Wars parody 'Naguère les Étoiles' for the Shampooing collection of Delcourt in 2010-2011. Spiessert was also responsible for the artwork in one of Bourhis' comics documentaries, dealing with the history of computer science ('Cyberbook' at La Revue Dessinée, 2015). Text (c) Lambiek
