Fred Carrillo a été embauché à ACE Publications, une société où il est resté pendant de nombreuses années. Il y a illustré plusieurs séries comme "Daluyong", "Daryo" et "Mahiwagang Bata". Il a entamé une collaboration avec l'écrivain Clodualdo Del Mundo, avec qui il a créé "Hercules", "Prinsipe Paris Walang Kaparis", "Misteryso", "Palading" et "Kayumangging Krisantemo". En outre, il a fait l'actualité dans "Ronnie Belo, Police Reporter" en coopération avec la journaliste Romy Lachina. Carrillo est devenu directeur artistique chez Espesyal Komiks, et quand à ACE Publications a plié, il a rejoint Graphic Arts Service. Carrillo a commencé à travailler à l'international à partir de 1972. Il débute par dessiner des séries pour DC comme "Phantom Stranger", "Black Orchid", "Ghost Stories" et "Tales of the Unexpected". Il a également travaillé pour Vincent Fago Productions et Pendulum Press, où il a adapté des classiques littéraires comme "Midsummer Night's Dream", "The Taming of the Shrew" et "Swiss Family Robinson".
