Enric's rep Christi is absolutely wonderful to work with and my Vampirella is what I wanted... EXACTLY! No actually better than I expected. Is there a more beautiful face?
The Story: I wanted Enric's effort, time and ultimately my cost to be focused on her retro 70's glam beautiful face, not a background. Not this time. I wanted her face to photo-sharp and realistic and I wanted her to big lifelike and OWN the room. She is huge, especially since not a full body. She will dominate my space. She deserves it. I gave a few examples of my favorite previously painted faces to push him to my task. I was tough. I even rejected his first painted prelim. SAY WHAT? I am still somewhat new to commissions and Enric is a hero to me. So, how do I tell the Vampirella master his prelim is not what I wanted or right for me? I was scared, but I did. The second prelim attempt knocked me out. "MISSION IS A GO!" I said. I wanted her to be his "Mona Lisa." I literally said that. "Paint me your "Mona Lisa." Make her timeless, with color and light close to a Rembrandt painting. I think he liked that part considering he LOVES Rembrandt. I referenced "The Denial of Peter" a 1660 painting by Rembrandt, now in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. And while Vampirella certainly is a different subject matter, I wanted her to have that old master feel with lighting. I am a sucker for great use of light. I love her beautiful oil tones and her collar is NOT a stark white as you expect to see. In fact, it is probably more umber. Besides Vampi's 70's eye make-up, we don't really know what century she is in.

About Enric Torres-Prat
Enric Torres-Prat is a comic book artist, who is best-known for his covers for horror and science fiction comics, and especially Vampirella, during the 1970s and 1980s. He began his career at the offices of Josep Toutain's Selecciones Ilustradas agency, and showed a talent for painting and photography. He was soon hired as a cover artist for such publications as Acción Extra and the early superhero comic books of Ediciones Vértice. Using the signature Enrich, he also appeared in science fiction magazines like Nueva Dimensión and the horror comic Buru Lan Drácula. He is most likely the same Enrich whose art appeared in the interior pages of a couple of issues of Hazañas Bélicas Extra and the Hazañas Belicas blue series.
He eventually focused on the US market, when he became a regular cover artist for James Warren's horror magazines Creepy, Eerie and especially Vampirella, for which he painted 52 covers. In Spain, his work kept appearing in titles like Delta, Hunter, Bumerang, 1984 and other publications by Selecciones Ilustradas. He has made covers for paperback science fiction, horror, western and romance novels for Eureopan publishers before forusing more and more on fine arts.
