Description
This Mike Zeck (pencils) and John Beatty (inks) page was published in the 11th issue of the 12-part fan-favorite 'maxi-series' Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars. This page features several of the villains from the saga gathered together. Present are two female villains introduced in the third issue of the series, Volcana and Titania. They are joined by some long-established Marvel villains like the Absorbing Man, Doctor Octopus, Molecule Man, the Enchantress, the Wrecker and more.
Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars was a major 1984-1985 12-part comic book 'maxi-series' and was the first long-running event that took place in its own title. The success of the series established the trend for major events to happen in their own title, with other on-going titles providing tie-ins. Originally created to help promote a line of action figures, the series written by Marvel's Editor-in-Chief Jim Shooter, was a bestseller that gave young fans a "dream team" approach of uniting Spider-Man, the Avengers, the Fantastic Four and the X-Men and pitting them against a group of Marvel's biggest villains on an alien "Battleworld". Young artist Mike Zeck, inked by John Beatty, had the right energy and style for the book and it in turn made Zeck a fan-favorite whose work has remained highly collectible in the original art market ever since.
Note: Production paste-ups are loose or fallen off, and panel 1 is taped in from the back.
