About Al Rio

Al Rio was born Alvaro Araújo Lourenço do Rio in Fortaleza, Ceará. He was a comic book artist who mainly worked in the "good girl" genre for the US market. He began his career in Rio de Janeiro, working as an illustrator and animator, before landing a job with The Walt Disney Company as an animator for the 'Aladdin' TV series. His main comics output was his work for the Wildstorm titles 'Gen 13' and 'DV8'. However, Rio worked for most of the other US comic book companies on such titles as 'Dungeon Siege', 'Grimm Fairy Tales', 'Avengelyne', 'Voodoo', 'Grifter and the Mask', 'Secret Files', 'WildC.A.T.S.', 'X-Men Unlimited', 'Captain America', 'Star Wars - A New Hope', 'Purgatori', 'Titan A.E.', 'Exposure', 'Knockout', 'Mystic', 'Peter Parker - Spider Man', 'Threshold' and 'Ana - Jungle Girl'.
