Description

About Renzo Savi

Born in Milan, Renzo Savi started his career in 1948 helping his brother Carlo Savi (Ivas) with 'Morgan il Corsaro' (a comic created by Dalmasso & Tacconi) and Magni (Ingam) with 'Pantera Bionda', both series for publisher Arc by Pasquale Giurleo. From 1956 to 1962 he inked his brother's pencils on stories for Casa Editrice Universo (Albi dell'Intrepido, Il Monello). In 1962 he drew 'Tarvin il Solitario' (text Giancarlo Ottani) for Radar, published by Angelo Fasani. In 1964 he worked with Leonello Martini (Edizioni Alpe) and some war stories for Fleetway in Britain through the Dami studios. In 1966 he worked for the French comic book Brik (Aventures et Voyages) doing 'Rock l'Invisible' (a comic previously drawn by Angiolini and Zamperoni). He also drew new episodes of 'Tarvin' for Mon Journal. Between 1972 and 1982 Savi worked exclusively for the studio of Graziano Origa doing 'Fiabe a Fumetti' (1972, Edizioni Sole), 'Johnny Honda' (1973, Universal Productions) and 'Bonnie' (replacing Zuffi in 1975, Ediperiodici). Savi also illustrated various erotic pockets for Edifumetto (such as 'Favolette Sexy', 1974) and Edizioni Sud ('Scandalo' and 'Sciuscina', 1979). Today he's a painter, living in Milan with his wife and daughter. Text (c) Lambiek
