Been a fan of Tommi Parrish's work for awhile now and was really anticipating their latest work 'Men I Trust,' especially after I read an except from the book when it was released as a stand alone zine, 'I Wanted to Hear Your Voice.'

Aside from the exceptional art being displayed on the page, this was one of those moments one has when reading a story, where even though you suspected this is where things were ultimately heading, the character's choice is something you really didn't want to happen, so upon reading, I let out an audible "Ohh nooo!" alone in my living room at one o’clock in the morning. Tommi even gives you a beat with a beautiful half splash to start off the page to delay the moment and keep you guessing, right after the previous long scene in the book that ends with Eliza turning down Sasha's proposal. We were almost in the clear.

There are many quietly observed moments in this book that are heartbreaking or brutal but this was moment that felt the most visceral to me.

Note: One of two Black Flag t-shirts that appear in the book.
