He stayed with TVE until 1973, when he focused on a fulltime career on cartooning. He had published his first cartoons in 1964, when he started contributing to the papers Pueblo and Arriba and the weekly La Codorniz. He became a cartoonist for Informaciones in 1967, for which he created his scientific section 'Los Forgendros' in 1971. In the 1970s, he was present in Diez Minutos, Hermano Lobo and Por Favor, and was an editorial cartoonist for Diario 16, El Mundo and El País. He was a regular in the humor magazines El Jueves and Jano. Among the characters he created are 'Blasillo', 'La Foca Concha' and 'Romerales'. Forges furthermore directed two films ('Pais S.A.' in 1975 and 'El Bengador Gusticiero y su Pastelera Madre' in 1977) and four humorous TV serials ('El Muliñandupelicascarabajo', 'Nosotros', '24 Horas Aqui', 'Deforme Semanal').
