Rare to find one of his gags in color :-)
Yoshirō Katō (1925–2006) was a Japanese manga artist and TV personality best known for the long-running comic strip Mappira-kun, which appeared in the Mainichi Shimbun for 47 years. He started his career in the late 1940s after leaving his government job and became known for his satirical, bold-lined comics like Onboro Jinsei and Senbiki no Ninja. Beyond manga, he was a popular television host, notably on Rensō Gēmu. Katō received multiple honors, including the Order of the Rising Sun, and served as president of the Japan Cartoonists Association (1981–1996).
