About Philippe Wurm

Philippe Wurm made his debut in comics in 1970 after taking courses from Eddy Paape. Soon, Wurm specialized in drawing with charcoal, which earned him the "Prize of Excellence of the Town of Brussels" and a medal from the government in 1987. Hachette published his first comic book, 'La Fabuleuse Histoire de Tennis', two years later. As a fan of police novels, Wurm made three comic adaptations of 'Maigret' in the 1980s and also an album of 'Nero Wolfe'. Wurm continued in the English police genre, when he teamed up with writer Stephen Desberg and started the series 'Le Cercle des Sentinelles' in 1998. In May, 2001, Wurm took on another police series, 'Les Rochester', along with Jean Dufaux. Text (c) Lambiek
