Shigeru Komatsuzaki was one of the most prolific Japanese figures in sci-fi, active from the 1940s until 2001. After WW2 Komatsuzaki chose to make large illustrations for various model companies that made kits for Gundam, Thunderbirds, Ultraman and more ...
Because of the increasing popularity of westerns and to capitalize on the success of Red Ryder in Japan, he was asked to draw the stories with Little Beaver in the leading role.
In the field of Anime and games, he did backgrounds for DragonBall Z - His last published illustrative work was in 2001 for Metal Gear Solid: Sons of Liberty (PlayStation 2)
Komatsuzaki died in December 2001 and is regarded by sci-fi and comic book writers worldwide as one of the most influential men in the genre.
