Description
D.C. Comics. July, 2005.
Lex Luthor: Man of Steel. Originally published as a 5-issue miniseries then collected and renamed "Luthor", being republished numerous times in graphic novel format. Couldn't wait to get this in hand, I had it set to my phone background long before even owning it. It gets said often but the scan really doesn't do this piece justice.
This Poison Ivy cameo directly precedes the brief showdown between Batman & Superman in the middle of the story. In comic books, nothing is a coincidence - this is Ivy. She appears in the previous page, setting up the interaction. It's such a beautiful piece and incredibly balanced, just look at her hair and the folds in her dress! The reflections in the back are equally as impressive. These detailed pages sure are something special and I really think Bermejo is up there with the best of the best. Hard to believe it's almost vintage, too! The art to this entire issue was formerly in the Personal Collection of Jim Lee.
