About Henri Jenfevre

Henri Jenfèvre is the artist of several humorous comics for Vents d'Ouest and his own publishing house, Bamboo. Born in Montbéliard in 1968, he had several odd jobs (including selling Bibles) before choosing a career in art in 1993. He had met Olivier Sulpice while fulfilling his military service, and together they set up Bamboo Grafic, a studio for producing comics for advertising agencies. One of their first published serials was 'Albert Linette et André Chapment' for Éditions Kraken in 1995. Bamboo Grafic developed into the creation of Bamboo Édition in 1997, a publishing house of a great many humour comics about professions, sports and hobbies. Jenfèvre is best known for co-creating the gag series 'Les Gendarmes' with scriptwriter Sulpice (and later Christophe Cazenove), that is published by Bamboo since 1998. Jenfevre and Sulpice have additionally cooperated on the first volume of 'Les Foot Maniacs' (1998), 'Histoires de VTT' (1998), 'Bruce Kid' (1999), 'Papy Biker' (2000) and 'Les 1000 pattes' (2002). Jenfèvre also drew the Bamboo comics 'Dirty Henry (2001-02) and the gag series about the hitman 'L'Effaceur' (2003-08) from scripts by Hervé Richez. As a scriptwriter, he has worked with co-writer Erroc and artist Michel Janvier on 'Rob, Wed & Co' (2001) and it's follow-up 'Les Musicos' (2004-08). Text (c) Lambiek
