To be able to judge this page, you need to take some time because in this sea of bright colours and almost photorealistic representations, the actual virtuosity of this artwork maybe can only be revealed at a second glance.

Alexis Nesme uses this stylistic device only sporadically: he really knows how to combine different panels to create the smooth flow of a scene (panels 1 – 3). It is always the same perspective on the river and its ambience (the bends of the river, the trees and plants, the play of the waves) – but each time a new perspective on the canoe of the natives that passes through the viewer as in time lapse. And naturally the canoe with its passengers becomes the sharper the closer it gets.
Panel 3 reminds me of a hidden wildlife camera triggered by motion.

The shadowy retrospective of the capture the night before in Panel 4, the different playful changes in depth of focus, similar to the bouquet of a photograph in Panel 5,7 and 8, up to the imposing presentation of the iguana chief who seems to consciously position himself for a portrait photo in (frameless) panel 6; all these stylistic devices are expressions of a firework of creativity, for which I love the art of Alexis Nesme so much. . .

To own this beautiful artwork is an incredible honor and I am truly thankful, Alexis gave it to me…

Many, many thanks!!! 😍
