Victor Lemaire is a French comic book artist, who works under the penname Hardoc. He has degrees in electrical engineering and Plastic Arts, and began his career as an illustrator for children's shows for France 2. He won the "Golden Squirrel" for most promising young talent at the Angoulême Comics Festival of 1996. He teamed up with scriptwriter Régis Hautière to create the comic series 'Le Loup, l'Agneau et les Chiens de Guerre', that was published in two books by Éditions Paquet in 2004 and 2006. He contributed to a collective book about Jules Verne for Éditions Petit à Petit in 2005, and has contributed to the alternative newspaper Fakir. Hardoc and Hautière have continued their collaboration with the World War I series 'La Guerre des Lulus', that is published by Casterman since early 2013. In 2014, Hardoc has additionally participated in several collective projects about World War I, such as 'Notre Mère La Guerre - Chroniques' (Futuropolis) and 'Petites Histories de la Grand Guerre' (Kotoji).
