Small and insanely detailed page from Jasper Jubenvill's Kung-Fu Comics starring Dynamite Diva. When I spoke with Jasper at Permanent Damage recently and told him I bought a couple pages from him he said, "Oh I know exactly the ones you got," then grabbed a copy of Kung-Fu and turned to this page, "that page took me so long to draw." It shows!
As a huge fan of Shaw Brothers films this page is an utter delight with many references to the studio's kung-fu movies. The center panel training montage, for instance, has Diva doing the same training, with buckets of water and blades attached to her arms, that Gordon Liu's character San Te has to endure in Lau Kar-leung's The 36th Chamber of Shaolin (1978).
Kung Fu Comics shows Jasper's style leveling up tremendously since the last Diva comic and subsequent published work, and what he has shown of the next Diva comic proper, shows this seems to be a style he will be sticking with, and now doubt improving on, for awhile.
