About Joost Swarte

Joost Swarte is a Dutch illustrator and comic book artist. A product of the Dutch underground comics scene, he is best known for having coined the term "ligne claire" (clear line) in 1977 to describe Hergé's style, characterised by simplicity and legibility, and which has subsequently come to designate the many authors who have drawn inspiration from it.
