About Daniël Desorgher

Born in Congo, Daniël Desorgher studied at the Institut Saint-Luc in Brussels, where he learned the finer points of the comics profession from Eddy Paape. He had internships with Studio Greg and Studio Attanasio, where he participated in the series 'Les As', 'Spaghetti' and 'Johnny Goodbye'. He joined Studio Peyo in 1972 and became a longtime contributor to Peyo's 'Smurfs' projects. Desorgher has drawn 'Smurfs' comic albums as well as illustrations for merchandise. He also made new gags with Peyo's gag series 'Poussy' for Spirou magazine in the late 1970s, and another series for Schtroumpf in the early 1990s. Desorgher remained active for Studio Peyo well into the 2000s, but had his solo breakthrough in 1988 with the series 'Jimmy Tousseul'. Set in Africa, Desorgher could use his childhood memories from the first twelve years of his life, when he lived in Congo. Together with scriptwriter Stephen Desberg, Desorgher made 'Jimmy Tousseul' for Spirou and the publishing house Dupuis until 2000. The series was relaunched at Glénat in 2004, this time with Benoît Despas as the scriptwriter. Since 2007, Desorgher also does the inking for the 'La Scrameustache' albums by Gos and Walt, that are also published by Glénat. Text (c) Lambiek
