Beautiful Valérian & Laureline page from one of the greatest teams in comics, Jean-Claude Mézières and Pierre Christin (still as Linus). This is from the very first story “Mauvais Rêves“, which was first published in the French Pilote 420-434 (1967/68), it was collected as an album in 1983.
The page itself is quite historic, as it marks the first appearance of Laureline (although one only sees her shadowy outline) in the final panel (9)…as with many of the early Valerian pages there’s some alternate art under panels 7 & 9, very cool to see (for the alternate panel 9 please look at the additional image), even though it’s „only“ a change in proportions…

He is the father of the science fiction series Valérian et Laureline, with a childhood friend, Pierre Christin (scriptwriter), and his sister, Évelyne Tranlé (colourist). Mézières has received international recognition through a number of prestigious awards.
