From the amazing I Never Promised You a Rose Garden by Mannie Murphy, which starts as an almost personal journal/diary/fanzine about River Phoenix but slowly and incredibly expands out to an investigation into the history of racism and white supremacy in Portland. A year after reading it and I am still in awe of how Mannie manages to pull this off all while never loosing sight of the personal connection the book starts with.

This page was selected for me by Mannie after we talked about the pages and the book, I had already chosen a page I really wanted, however I also wanted a page that was written on (only the first chapter had the text directly on the page) and after a bit they asked if I wanted them to choose a page for me, I had never done this before and it sounded fun. I didn't know the page they had chosen until I opened the package.
