Page 1 in the first Grandville volume
Comment
Since the fifth and final volume of the Grandville book series is now concluded and published, I take this opportunity to post the very first page in the series: The opening splash of the first volume, depicting a steampunky, alternative and rather ominous-looking Paris aka Grandville. Let us hope Bryan Talbot changes his mind and continues the series.
Of course this work is heavily inspired by the early nineteenth century French illustrator Jean Gérard, who worked under the nom de plume J.J.Grandville.
