The portrait in this page shows Sir William Gull at the absolute top of his game: Arrogant and confident, he puts the poet W.B Yeats and The Order of the Golden Dawn in their place. At this point he believes his Great Work is over and the victims done with, but he will soon be in for a nasty surprise.
The final tier on this page was a photostat, depicting a William Blake drawing. Eddie Campbell cut it out and used it again at a page in Chapter 14 (so I just had to buy that page too...).

Eddie Campbell is a Scottish comics artist and cartoonist who now lives in Australia. Probably best known as the illustrator and publisher of From Hell (written by Alan Moore), Campbell is also the creator of the semi-autobiographical Alec stories.
