Gorgeous painted cover piece by Moebius and Liberatore. There is a bit of a story here. I got this from a friend a little while ago. At the time I got it and when it sold an auction over a decade ago it was listed as inks by Moebius and Liberatore coloring/painted. Through research, help of friends and someone being able to ask Liberatore directly its true nature has come to light. The underlying art is inks by Moebius but the underlying inks are printed. This same image was used for two other projects. One as a portfolio piece and the second was for the cover of Moebius in L.A. All are done differently but with the same underlying line work. On this particular cover, Liberatore reinked much of it and painted it. I would consider this piece a finished, painted Liberatore cover "after Moebius". I don't think it would be a color print since it has been reworked and reinked. I can't call it Moebius pencils as he never touched the pieces. Regardless, a great image and collaboration of two of the greatest modern European artist from a time period that would have been the prime of both. See additional images. Published cover to Frigidaire December 1990. I would consider trading for Tardi, Pratt or Herimann.
