About Steven Dupré

Steven Dupré was born in Morstel, near Antwerp, Flanders. He studied plastic arts in Antwerp and did illustration work for the Flemish Comics Centre (Vlaams Stripcentrum) from the early 1980s. In 1986, he cooperated on the collective album 'Cynisme en Sarcasme' of the publishing house Clumzy, and contributed 'Romeo's Kustperikelen' to Scriptoria's Zee-Zon-Zand-Stripboek. He then went to work for the Flemish press under the pseudonym Dust In 1993, he created the semi-realistic series 'Sarah en Robin' for Suske en Wiske Weekblad at Standaard Uitgeverij which was published in albums starting in 1996. In addition, he assisted Jan Bosschaert on the inking of several albums in the series 'Sam'. In 1994, Dupré illustrated a local comic about the history of the town Courtrai. He eventually turned to animation and became character designer and lay-out artist. In 1995 he drew the comic 'Waldo's Horrorland' from a script by Dick Briel and Ruud den Drijver for Veronicagids. He continued his comics activities with the fantasy series 'Coma' at the publishing house Glénat from 2002 to 2004. In 2005, he illustrated the episode 'La Gourmandise' in the 'Pandora Box' series of the publishing house Dupuis. In 2006 he started working on a comic based on the French TV series 'Kaamelott' with writer Alexandre Astier for the publishing house Casterman. Text (c) Lambiek
